Chief Bankruptcy Judge Diane Davis retired earlier this month, after serving for 14 years on the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of New York.  She will be recognized at a retirement dinner being planned for April 19 at the Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford.  Judge Davis was appointed Chief Bankruptcy Judge effective February 16, 2021, and joined the Bankruptcy Court in 2009.

Chief United States District Judge Brenda K. Sannes announced that Judge Wendy Kinsella is the new Chief Bankruptcy Judge.  Judge Kinsella joined the Bankruptcy Court in June 2021, and was previously a partner and the leader of the Financial Restructuring, Bankruptcy, and Creditors’ Rights practice group at Harris Beach PLLC in Syracuse.  In an interview published in the fall 2021 issue of the FCBA newsletter, Chief Bankruptcy Judge Kinsella discussed some of her formative experiences as a bankruptcy practitioner, the rewards of practicing bankruptcy law, and her expectations of the attorneys who appear before her.
