The NDNY-FCBA CLE Committee will present a CLE program on: “Federal Court Practice: A Seminar on Dispositive Motions” on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the James M. Hanley United States Federal Building and Courthouse. This program will be video conferenced to the James T. Foley United States Courthouse, Albany, New York and the Plattsburgh United States Courthouse in Plattsburgh, New York.
This three-hour seminar will build upon previous sessions in the Federal Litigation series, giving practitioners practical advice from the Court’s perspective about how to successfully brief dispositive motions.Topics will include legal writing tips for practitioners, rules and procedures applicable to motions generally, the pros and cons of consenting to a magistrate judge, motions for summary judgment, and motions to dismiss. Edward G. Melvin, II, Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, will facilitate the seminar. The presenters will include: Michael Langan, Esq., Law Clerk to Hon. Glenn T.
