This CLE will discuss the jurisprudential background that underpins the constitutional history and interpretation of the 14th Amendment, in particular how constitutionalism has impacted how it has developed over the last 100+ years.
Trying a Civil Rights Case (September 29 and 30, 2022)
This CLE course will provide practitioners with the information necessary to handle the trial of a prisoner case typically brought under 42 USC §1983. Ethical issues and substantive and practical areas will be covered.
The Intersection of Litigation and Government Relations: The Fight to Bring Mixed Martial Arts to New York (September 19, 2022)
In 1997 New York State officially banned live professional mixed martial arts. This CLE will cover the history of the ban on UFC and MMA in New York, the Jones v. Schneiderman, et al., decision and the government relations campaign that followed. The CLE will also cover the regulatory process that followed in the wake of the sport’s legalization.
Navigating the Intersection of Cybersecurity and Litigation (August 23, 2022) (VOD)
This CLE course will focus on the evolving landscape of cybersecurity and data privacy and its intersection with litigation. In addition to cybersecurity best practices for clients, this presentation will discuss specific data privacy and cybersecurity litigation issues including data transfer and discovery issues, data protection addenda, forensic experts, data breach litigation standing, and emerging cyber contractual provisions that have become the recent subject of litigation.
