The NDNY FCBA will present: “Do You Know What Your Children Are Saying Online? The First Amendment Rights of Public School Students in the Digital Age” on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Hilton Albany, 40 Lodge Street, Albany, New York. This program is from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with sign in at 12:30 p.m. Please register by November 27, 2013.

This program will examine from a variety of perspectives the constitutional free speech rights of public school students when exercised in electronic digital formats outside of the school environment. This area of First Amendment law, which remains unsettled, emerges from the intersection of modern communications technology and constitutional principles. Recent cases addressing the issue, including the leading decisions from the Second Circuit, will be examined and important issues/trends in the developing law will be identified
