The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York invites you to attend a special and engaging event at the James T. Foley U.S. Courthouse in Albany on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.
This unique program will feature a live re-enactment of the historic trial of John Peter Zenger—one of the most significant cases in the development of freedom of the press in America—followed by a panel discussion with distinguished members of the legal and journalism communities.
The re-enactment will include:

U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Stewart as John Peter Zenger
- Hon. Christina Ryba as defense counsel Andrew Hamilton

Casey Seiler, Editor of the Times Union, as James Alexander
Following the performance, a panel discussion will be moderated by Christopher Riano, Esq., and will feature:
- Henry Greenberg, Esq.
- Casey Seiler
- Jimmy Vielkind
U.S. District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino will serve as narrator for the re-enactment. A reception with light refreshments will follow the program.
