Life After Prison Panel Discussion

On September 29, 2025, the Criminal Practice Committee of the NDNY Federal Court Bar Association will be hosting two panel events: one at Albany Law School and one at Syracuse University School of Law, titled Life After Prison: Welcome Home.

These panels will feature formerly incarcerated individuals discussing the challenges of reentering society, e.g., finding work, staying drug-free, and reconnecting with loved ones.

United States Magistrate Judge Paul Evangelista will moderate the event in Albany and
United States Magistrate Judge Mitchell J. Katz will moderate the event in Syracuse.

A criminal case usually ends with a defendant’s sentencing and incarceration. This event will allow attorneys – both prosecutors and criminal defense attorneys – to hear about what happens next directly from people who have experienced reentry and who can speak to the challenges, successes, and failures that come with reentering society after time spent behind bars.

Syracuse University College of Law, September 29, 2:30 to 3:45 pm
Moderated by U.S. Magistrate Judge Mitchell J. Katz
