The FCBA collaborated with Albany Law School to host a discussion about judicial decision-making on the evening of November 1, 2023. The event consisted of a one-hour panel discussion followed by a networking cocktail reception.

FCBA President Adam Katz moderated the panel discussion. The distinguished panel was composed of United States District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino, United States District Judge Anne M. Nardacci, and Albany Law School alumni United States Magistrate Judge Christian F. Hummel, United States Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Stewart, and United States Bankruptcy Judge Robert E. Littlefield, Jr. The topics of discussion ranged from the judges’ various paths to the bench and the dynamic practice of law in the Northern District of New York, to the critical role of law clerks and post-graduation career advice for the approximately 90 students in attendance.

Following the panel discussion, students mingled with the judges during a catered cocktail reception. Students were afforded the opportunity to personally introduce themselves and to gain additional professional guidance about clerkships and internships.

The event was a tremendous success, and the FCBA hopes to sponsor similar events in the future.
