May 1 - May 31

The 2026 ABA Law Day theme is
“The Rule of Law and the American Dream.”

Law Day/Month kicks off on May 1, 2026, and
the FCBA Education and Public Outreach Committee is scheduling visits to high schools in Central New York and the Capital District throughout the month of May.

The rule of law—the idea that no person is above the law—is what ensures the rights of the people to live their lives as freely as possible and to pursue their dreams. The ABA encourages all Americans to recognize Law Day on May 1, 2026, and to reflect on how the rule of law ensures all Americans have the ability to fulfill their dreams.

Attention Teachers and Administrators! Sign up to have a judge and a lawyer visit your class! Federal Court Judges, Law Clerks, and Local Practicing Attorneys will engage your students in an interactive presentation and discussion about the laws that protect individual liberties (like speech, privacy, and due process) and the importance of holding the government accountable, preventing arbitrary power, and ensuring justice is accessible to all.

WHERE: Our speakers will come to your school or you can schedule a visit to the Federal Courthouse in Syracuse or Albany. Space is limited for Courthouse visits and will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

WHEN: Law “Day” officially begins on May 1, 2026, and will be celebrated all month long. Requests for school visits in the months of April and May will be accommodated based on your school’s needs and the Court’s schedule.

WHO: All students in Grades 9 to 12 are welcome to participate.

DEADLINE TO RESPOND IS MARCH 1, 2026. If you are interested, please email [email protected] today. We will send you a questionnaire to determine your school’s unique needs and do our best to accommodate all requests.
