CLE: FEDERAL RULES UPDATE: WHAT’S NEW AND WHAT PRACTITIONERS NEED TO KNOW
Course Description: A two-part training covering important topics including evidentiary authentication of social media, the Bail Reform Act, 21st Century technology tools, case budgeting, and 2nd Circuit and Supreme Court case updates.
Trying a Civil Rights Case – October 4 (Albany) & October 5 (Syracuse)
This CLE program will provide practitioners with the information necessary to handle the trial of a prisoner case typically brought under 42 USC §1983. Ethical issues and substantive and practical areas will be covered. Participants are eligible for CLE Credits (5.0 Skills, 1.0 Ethics, 1.0 Diversity). This is an in-person program and will not be offered virtually.
Cross-Examination & Closing Statements in Federal Court (July 19, 2023) (VOD)
This CLE will present an overview of the “Do’s and Don’ts” of cross-examination, including the boundaries of cross-examination and how to properly impeach a witness. The panel will also discuss what limitations are placed on closing arguments by existing case law and how to apply the jury instructions to the facts of your case in closing arguments.

Federal Criminal Defense Training (June 7, 2023)
A day-long training covering important topics including developing the fourth amendment record, Supreme Court and 2nd Circuit updates, understanding Cellebrite Reader forensic reports, amendments to sentencing guidelines, recent developments for challenges to federal prosecutions, and ethical considerations for criminal defense attorneys.
