Law Day 2025 – The Constitution’s Promise: Out of Many, One

Law Day is an annual commemoration held on May 1st to celebrate the rule of law and cultivate a deeper understanding of the legal system. The Voices of Democracy Law Day theme encourages Americans to participate in the 2024 elections by deepening their understanding of the electoral process.

The NDNY Federal Court Bar Association will host a Special Admission Ceremony 
for Officers of The Judge Advocate General’s Corps 
on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Fort Drum, New York. The Admission Ceremony will be followed by a CLE on Remote Proceedings and a light lunch.
Local Attorneys are welcome to attend, with pre-registration and visitor’s pass.

New York State-Federal Judicial Council CLE – The Interplay Between State and Federal Law

Join our panel of distinguished federal and state judges for a discussion about the interplay between state and federal rulings, including the general rules governing that interplay, the N.Y. Court of Appeals' recent answers to Certified Questions of Law from the Second Circuit, and recent decisions of interest from federal district courts in New York State. CLE: Mediation Mastery: Practical Techniques & Essential Ethics

Retired U.S. Magistrate Judge Christian Hummel, Jeffrey Anderson, Esq., Stephen Helmer, Esq., and Ryan Donovan, Esq. (moderator) will provide their perspectives on the use of arbitration and mediation to resolve cases. They will offer useful tips and techniques to aid in the resolution of disputes, as well as guidance on document submissions and preparing your client for the mediation process. Learn the principles of evaluating a case, timing and approach to resolution, judge/mediator assessment and responsibility, plaintiff experience and strategy, and defense perspective. This course will also focus on ethics in mediation, emphasizing the ethical obligations of mediators, attorneys, and parties in the mediation process, and will address issues of confidentiality, impartiality, conflicts of interest, and the duty to negotiate in good faith.

Registration is now open for the FCBA Golf Tournament! This year, the event will be held on Monday, August 11 at Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse beginning at 11:30 am.
